    Add an app from Discover

Find an app in Discover, add it to your workspace, connect your account or key, and get your AI's first answer from it.

In this tutorial you add one app to your workspace and ask your AI to use it. Pick an app you already have an account with, such as your project tracker or CRM, so the answer is about your own data.

    What you need

    • An ahel account, and an AI tool already connected to ahel. If not, start with Connect Claude.
    • An account with the app's vendor. ahel does not give you one, and anything the vendor charges for it is between you and the vendor.

    1. Find the app

Open Discover in your workspace (app.ahel.ai/app/catalog) and search for the app by name or by what you want to do.

Each app shows how it connects:

    LabelWhat it means
    ReadyConnect it in one click.
Sign in to connectYou sign in with the vendor's own sign-in screen.
API keyYou paste a key you create in the vendor's settings.
No account neededIt works without an account of yours.
Listed onlyThe vendor's official API is listed, with a link to its documentation. ahel has no actions for it, collects no key or sign-in, and it cannot be connected.
Not offered yet, or Not offered right nowahel does not serve this app at the moment.

Only apps you can connect have a Connect or Add button. A Listed only app's page links to the vendor's official documentation instead.

You can browse the same catalog signed out at ahel.ai/discover. There, Add to setup collects apps into Your setup, and Install setup signs you in and adds them all. This tutorial uses the signed-in Discover, which does the same thing one app at a time.

    2. Add and connect it

Press the app's button. What happens next depends on how it connects:

    • Sign in to connect: the vendor's sign-in screen opens. Sign in and approve access. You come back to ahel with the app connected.
    • API key: ahel opens the app's account in the vault, with the steps "1. Get the key in" the vendor and "2. Paste it here". Paste the key and press Save. Give an app a key has the details.
    • No account needed: the app is added and on straight away.

The button changes to Added, and the app now appears on your Apps page with the status On. If it says Needs setup, it is still waiting for your sign-in or key: open it and finish that step.

    3. Ask your AI to use it

In the AI you connected, start a new chat and ask something only that app can answer. For example:

    • "Using ahel, list my five most recent issues."
    • "Using ahel, find the customer called Example Ltd."

Your AI answers with your own data. In Claude the answer is a card; in other tools it is complete text. If your AI asks to allow ahel, choose Always allow.

    4. Try one change

Ask for something that changes data, such as "create a test issue called Hello from ahel". A confirm card appears with the values filled in, and nothing runs until you press its button. Press it once and the change runs once. Confirm, receipts and approvals explains why.

    If something goes wrong

    What you seeWhat to do
The app is not in DiscoverSearch for what it does rather than its name. If it is not listed, Studio can turn its API into an app: see Build and publish in Studio.
The app says Listed onlyahel cannot run it, so there is nothing to connect. Use the vendor's documentation linked on its page, or turn its API into your own app in Studio.
Your AI does not use the new appStart a new chat so the AI reloads what ahel serves, and say "using ahel". Check that the app is On on your Apps page.
The status is Needs setupOpen the app on your Apps page and finish the sign-in or paste the key.
The vendor refuses the callThe account or key may not have the permission the action needs. Check its scopes in the vendor's settings, then replace the key in the vault.
