    Connect your AI · How-to guide

    Connect Cursor, Claude Code, Codex or VS Code

    Add ahel to a coding tool with one command or install link, approve the browser sign-in, and get complete text answers.

    Coding tools use ahel the same way as Claude and ChatGPT, through one address, and get complete text answers instead of cards. Each tool needs the address added once, then one browser sign-in. Do these steps on the computer where the tool runs.

    The address is https://mcp.ahel.ai. If you belong to more than one ahel workspace, take the command or link from Connect your AI in the workspace you want; it names that workspace.

    Claude Code

    1. Run this once in any terminal. It adds ahel for every project, not only the current folder:
    claude mcp add --transport http --scope user ahel 'https://mcp.ahel.ai'

    1. In Claude Code, open /mcp, select ahel, and approve the browser sign-in.

    Claude Code now lists ahel as connected in /mcp. Ask it "How do I start with ahel?" to check.

    Codex

    1. Run this once in a terminal. It adds ahel and opens the browser sign-in:
    codex mcp add ahel --url 'https://mcp.ahel.ai' && codex mcp login ahel

    1. Approve the ahel sign-in in the browser window that opens.

    Codex uses the same MCP configuration in its supported desktop, editor and terminal surfaces, so you add ahel once.

    Cursor

    1. Open the Cursor install link from the Cursor setup page or from Connect your AI. It adds ahel to Cursor with the address above. Press Install in Cursor.
    2. Approve the ahel sign-in in your browser.

    To add it by hand instead, add a remote MCP server named ahel with the address above in Cursor's MCP settings.

    VS Code

    1. Open the VS Code install link from the VS Code setup page or from Connect your AI, and press Install in VS Code.
    2. Approve the ahel sign-in in your browser, then use ahel from Copilot Chat in agent mode.

    To add it by hand, put this entry in .vscode/mcp.json:

    {
      "servers": {
        "ahel": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.ahel.ai" }
      }
    }

    ahel works in VS Code. We have not yet verified cards there, so plan on text.

    What you get in a coding tool

    • Complete text answers from your apps. Nothing is lost without cards: every card has a text version.
    • Changes still need a confirm. The tool cannot draw the confirm card, so ahel gives it a link of the form app.ahel.ai/app/confirm/... to pass on to you. Open it, check the values, and press the button there. See Confirm, receipts and approvals.
    • No keys in your config. The only thing in the tool's settings is the address. Your app keys stay in the vault.

    If something goes wrong

    What you seeWhat to do
    Claude Code does not show ahel in another projectIt was added for one folder only, without --scope user. Remove it there with claude mcp remove ahel and run the command above.
    The tool lists ahel but says it needs authenticationRun the sign-in step again: /mcp in Claude Code, codex mcp login ahel in Codex, or the sign-in prompt in Cursor or VS Code.
    The browser sign-in shows a different ahel accountSign out on ahel.ai, then repeat the sign-in step.
    Connect your AI does not list the toolahel has not seen it sign in yet. Finish the sign-in step in the tool.
