Build and publish in Studio · How-to guide
Use your own domain for an app
Serve a Studio app on a subdomain you own, such as mcp.yourcompany.com, with two DNS records and a check.
Use this to serve a Studio app at an address on your own domain, for example mcp.yourcompany.com, instead of the ahel address. Your own domain comes with the Launch and Team plans, and only an owner or a team lead can set it.
What you need
- A subdomain you control, such as
mcp.yourcompany.com. A bare domain likeyourcompany.comis not accepted. - Access to that domain's DNS settings.
Set it up
- On the app's publish screen, open 1. Your domain.
- Enter the Hostname and press Save hostname.
- Add two DNS records at your DNS provider, exactly as the screen shows them:
- a CNAME record for your hostname, pointing to the target the screen names,
- a TXT record named
_ahel-challenge.followed by your hostname, with the value startingahel-verify=that the screen shows.
- Press Check DNS.
The status moves from Waiting for DNS to Verified, then to Live on your domain. DNS changes can take a while to spread; press Check DNS again later if it is still waiting.
If it does not verify
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Still Waiting for DNS after an hour | Check both records are saved with the exact names and values on the screen, with no extra dots or quotes. |
| The hostname is refused | Use a subdomain, not the bare domain. |
Once it is live, the app answers on your domain the same way it does on the ahel address. People who already added the ahel address keep working.
