Connect Claude
Add ahel to Claude as a custom connector, sign in once, and get your first answer from your own apps as a card.
In this tutorial you add ahel to Claude, sign in, and ask Claude a first question that ahel answers. It takes about five minutes. You can do every step in a browser, on a computer or a phone. Once the connector is added, it is available in Claude on the web and in the desktop app.
What you need
- An ahel account. If you do not have one, sign in with your email or Google first. The Free plan needs no card.
- A Claude account on a plan that lets you add custom connectors.
1. Copy the connector address
The address is:
https://mcp.ahel.ai
If you belong to more than one ahel workspace, copy the address from Connect your AI instead (choose Claude). It names your workspace, so Claude always uses that one.
2. Add ahel as a custom connector
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it
ahel. - Paste the address as the Remote MCP server URL, and press Add.
You should now see ahel in your list of connectors, not yet connected.
3. Sign in to ahel from Claude
- Next to ahel, press Connect.
- Claude opens ahel's sign-in screen. Sign in if you are asked, then press Allow.
You are back in Claude, and ahel shows as connected. In your ahel workspace, Connect your AI now shows Claude as "Connected, signed in" with the time.
If ahel's screen says you are signed in to a different ahel account than you expected, sign out on ahel.ai and press Connect in Claude again.
4. Ask your first question
- Start a new chat in Claude. Make sure ahel is switched on for the chat in Claude's tools menu.
- Ask: "How do I start with ahel?"
- Claude will ask to allow ahel the first time. Choose Always allow.
Claude answers with a short guide to what your workspace can do, using ahel. If you have already connected an app, ask something only that app knows, such as "list my open issues", and the answer comes back as a card.
5. Try a change, safely
Ask Claude to do something that changes data in a connected app, such as "create a test issue called Hello from ahel". Claude does not do it straight away. It shows a confirm card with the values filled in, and the card says "Nothing runs until you press" its button. Press it to run the change once, or ignore it: an unpressed card expires after an hour and nothing runs.
This confirm step is on for every workspace by default. Confirm, receipts and approvals explains how it works.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| There is no Add custom connector option | Your Claude plan or your company's Claude settings do not allow it. Ask your Claude admin to add ahel. |
| Claude says it cannot reach the server | Check that the address is exactly https://mcp.ahel.ai, with no spaces, then remove ahel and add it again. |
| The sign-in window closed and ahel is still not connected | Press Connect again. Allow pop-ups for claude.ai if your browser blocked the window. |
| Claude answers without using ahel | Switch ahel on for the chat in the tools menu, then ask again and mention ahel by name. |
| A card does not appear, only text | You still have the full answer: every card has a complete text version. If cards stopped appearing after an ahel update, refresh the tools list for ahel in Claude's connector settings. |
