VS Code

Add Ahel to VS Code as an HTTP server in mcp.json, sign in, and use it from Copilot Chat in agent mode.

VS Code reads Ahel from an mcp.json file and uses it in Copilot Chat's agent mode.

From the VS Code docs, seen 2026-10-20. Not yet run end to end against Ahel from VS Code.

Steps

  1. Copy your address from Settings, then Connect AI.

  2. In VS Code, run MCP: Open User Configuration from the command palette. For one project, use .vscode/mcp.json instead.

  3. Add Ahel under servers:

    {
      "servers": {
        "ahel": { "type": "http", "url": "YOUR_ADDRESS" }
      }
    }

  4. Start the server from the file. VS Code opens a browser to sign in to Ahel the first time.

  5. Open Copilot Chat in agent mode and ask for a pipeline.

MCP: Add Server in the command palette writes the same entry for you.

With an access token

VS Code can ask for the token once and keep it hidden:

{
  "inputs": [
    { "type": "promptString", "id": "ahel-token", "description": "Ahel access token", "password": true }
  ],
  "servers": {
    "ahel": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "YOUR_ADDRESS",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${input:ahel-token}" }
    }
  }
}
